Eye Surgery F.A.Q

Here are some common question we are asked about these procedures.

The ideal ratio of eyes is when the length of the eye, length between the eyes, length between the nose and middle of forehead are 1:1:1.

The upper and lower eyes look good with 8 to 10mm height and 27 to 29mm width.

The size of the double eyelid is 1.5-2.0mm, and if more 3⁄4th of the eye is exposed the eye does not look stuffy, and pretarsal roll beneath the eyes gives a young impression.

The most ideal ratio of eyes and nose is when medial eyebrow, medial epicanthus and nasal tip is in a straight line. Eye tail, lateral canthus and side of nose should be in a straight line diagonally.

Local anesthesia is given as it is very important in this surgery that both sides harmonize and the surgery requires the patient to open and close his/her eyes repeatedly.

The patient will wake up during the surgery after the short period of IV sedation. Since local anesthesia has already been carried out, the patient will not feel any pain.

If the two products have been used, the skin covering of the eyes is often stretched.

Depending on the conditions of the eyes, the surgical method will be applied differently, and if the skin is stretched too much, an incision method will be used.

The scar, of course, depends on the individual’s skin or care method, but the incision area and removal area are wide in the previous medial epicanthoplasty surgeries.

There was a scar because the skin itself was very delicate. To ease this concern, ATOP plastic surgery is undergoing a surgery to minimize incision.

In addition, skin removal from the front of the eye is minimal, which leaves the pretarsal roll.

After eye surgery, swelling or bruising depends on individual differences and the method of surgery.

Usually a large swelling lasts for a week, and a small swelling lasts for about three weeks.

In case of lateral canthoplasty, depending on the various skin and the method of surgery, the eye can reattach.

In case, only the necessary area is operated or the eyelid lowering surgery is performed together. You can minimize the side effects of reattaching.

Chemosis does not occur to everyone.

If the conjunctivitis is sensitive or if there is a lot of bleeding during surgery, chemosis may occur.

ATOP Plastic Surgery prevents by minimizing the surgery time to 10 to 15 minutes to minimize the bleeding.

An eyelid ptosis is a condition in which the upper eyelid falls down and the upper gap of the eyelids become very thin due to the weak muscle strength.

If you hear that you look sleepy, if your eyes are not wide open, if you cannot open your eyes with the force of your eyes and  need  to move your eyebrows a lot, you can call it an eyelid ptosis. Correction of eye is required not only in beauty terms but also in functional terms, so the surgery must be carried out after accurate diagnosis.

There are differences in the surgery method depending on whether the line incisions are made or not when the double eyelid surgery is performed.
An incision produces a definite correction or an accurate double eyelid line, but the recovery period is longer than non-incision, and there is a risk of scarring.

In the case of non-incision method, surgery had limits according to the shape of the eye, but recently, the development of the surgical method has led to the development of various methods. Various forms of eye cosmetic surgery have also been possible through non-incision.

Eye correction and double eyelid surgery are separate surgeries.
In normal cases, the upper eyelid should cover 1-2mm of pupils, but if it covers more of the pupil, this case is called eyelid ptosis, which is often referred to as sleepy eyes.

If you raise your upper eyelid making the pupils more visible, this will give less sleepy face. Having big eyes will also lead to good impression.

If there are existing double eyelids, you can also perform non-incision or incision on the eyelid line. If there is no double eyelid, the operation can be performed without scarring through the conjunctiva.

For double eyelid lines, you can also proceed with the hidden double eyelid, depending on the shape of the eye.

For post surgery appearance, you should visit the hospital and consult with  a specialist.

First, in the case of eye formation, the size of the current eye itself and the distance between the eye and eyebrow should be considered.

Due to the weak force of opening the eye, the eyelid ptosis surgery is recommended.

If your eye is short width, and would like to lengthen horizontally, eyelid lowering, lateral canthoplasty, medial epicanthoplasty is recommended.

Also, if the eye is not small, but the distance between the eye and eyebrow is close, the eye surgery alone will not satisfy you, so forehead-brow surgery is recommended.

In the case of eyebrows, it can irritate the eyes depending on the direction of the hair growth or the shape of the eyes.

It can be corrected through surgery, and depending on the discomforting area, the method of operation is determined.

For more details, please visit the hospital for further advice.

During surgery, delicate skin sutures, securing orbicularis oculi muscle, and avoiding deep double eyelid lines will prevent big scars.

Usually, you should wear contact lenses after a month after eye surgery and avoid wearing dark eye makeup for three weeks.

Visible movements like rubbing eyes while removing make-up are feared to loosen the area of surgery.
